The Fallout
Matthew Hurley of BoxingScene.com by way of FOX Sports has analyzed the aftermath of Jose Luis Castillo’s weight problems and the cancellation of this weekend’s mega-fight because him and Diego Corrales.
The windfall from this disaster will be particularly hard on Castillo. Twice he has now at least appeared to try to gain the upper hand against an opponent by side stepping the rules. Obviously he will move up in weight, but his popularity, not only with the fans but his promoter, Bob Arum — who called his actions “disgusting” — will not put him in good stead in future bouts.
In the end it is Corrales and the fans that suffer. But he will return to fight another day, hopefully against an opponent who grants him the respect he deserves.

HBO had offered Arum a package that would allow his bout to air on June 9th, but Arum refused to take the deal.
