Well That Was Quick

It only took Vic Darchinyan a few more hours to find an opponent…

Darchinyan will defend his IBF and IBO Flyweight titles against Glenn Donaire on October 7th. The fight will be the co-featured bout along with Diego Corrales and Joel Casamayor on Showtime.

Darchinyan Having Opponent Troubles

It seems to be a common theme these days - top contenders are unable to find opponents for upcoming fights. IBF Flyweight Champion Vic Darchinyan is no exception. Darchinyan is slated to fight on October 7th and is still without an opponent.

Attempts to grab fellow champs Omar Narvaez and Pongsaklek Wonjongkam came up short as both fighters rejected the offer. Now Darchinyan will try to get top contender Jose Burgos to agree to a fight.

“The WBO and WBC champions have cancelled, they don’t want to fight me,” Darchinyan said. “I might fight a mandatory against [former IBF light flyweight champion] Jose Burgos. If they get him it will be good because I know he’s a tough fighter and it would be a good television fight.”
