Kamoko Added to Dubai Card

WBC #9 light heavyweight contender Braimah Kamoko has been added to the February 8 boxing event at Sheikh Rashid Hall in the Dubai World Trade Center.

Promoter Jessie Robinson says the addition of Ghana’s Kamoko (23-0, 13 KOs) brings even more prestige to this groundbreaking night of boxing in the United Arab Emirates that already features former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion of the world “Double M” Michael Moorer.

Kamoko will face Atlanta, Georgia’s “King” Lawrence Chapman (19-4-2, 13 KOs), a solid veteran who will test the resolve of any light heavyweight in the world.

Moorer Stops Couser in First; McCall Drops Diaz

Both of the big-time heavyweights on Saturday night’s Night of the Heavyweights card were victorious in dominant fashion…

Former heavyweight champion Michael Moorer stopped Mike Tyson look-a-like Cliff Couser in the first round of their fight. Couser actually took to the offensive early on in the fight, pushing Moorer against the ropes with combinations of lefts and rights. Couser landed a hard body shot while Moorer was backing into the ropes but Moorer was able to counter with a right hook that sent Couser to the canvas.

Couser was visibly knocked out and the referee didn’t even bother to administer a 10 count, declaring Moorer the winner.

After the fight, Moorer was proud of his training efforts coming into the bout:

“This is the reward of working hard to prepare for the fight,” Moorer said.

In the co-main event, former heavyweight champion Oliver McCall stopped Yamplier Diaz in the 7th round. McCall dropped Diaz with a left hook, short right combination and Diaz was unable to beat the referee’s count, ultimately ending the fight.

Apparently Michael Moorer’s boxing career isn’t over just yet.

These former champs just can’t stay away, can they?

The former light-heavyweight and heavyweight champion will make his return to the ring on December 9th against Mike Tyson look-alike and actual half brother, Cliff Couser.

I apologize for not having more information - I’ll look around for an official press release on this…
