Gonzalez Returns to New York Tonight
Puerto Rican prospect Mike Gonzalez heads to New York City this Wednesday night, September 5th to face unbeaten lightweight Jorge Teron in an eight round featured lightweight bout at a special “Black Tie” edition of Broadway Boxing presented by DiBella Entertainment and Gallagher Productions at Cipriani’s Wall Street in Manhattan. Advance tickets and more information can be obtained by calling 212-624-9363.
The heavy handed Gonzalez brings a record of 10-1-1 (9KO’s) into the fight against the Bronx native Teron who sports a record of 17-0-1 (11KO’s).
Speaking Monday from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport while waiting to board his plane to New York City, Gonzalez said about the matchup, “He’s taller than I am so I’m going to have to get inside to offset his reach advantage. I’ll get to the body then work my way upstairs.”

Taylor Plans to Bang With Pavlik
With just a little over 3 weeks remaining World Middleweight Champion Jermain Taylor has been enjoying the peace and quiet he’s finding in the mountains of Pennsylvania, where he’s training for his September 29th title defense against Kelly Pavlik at Borardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. But what has Taylor (27-0-1, 17 KO’s) most excited is the prospect of a slugfest with hard-hitting Kelly Pavlik. Taylor relishes the opportunity to swap power shots with the top-ranked contender in his showdown.
The bout which is being billed as “Throwback” is being promoted by DiBella Entertainment, in association with Top Rank Inc. “From a style standpoint, my last couple of fights were wrong for me, but they were fighters who stepped up to the plate,” Taylor said.
“Kelly Pavlik is a fighter , just like me. He comes to fight, no running, no holding. It’s about time. People are going to be surprised by what they see on September 29th. I’m expecting a lot of fireworks in the ring with Kelly Pavlik. This is my kind of fight.”

Siddique’s Inspiration is Witter
Nadeem Siddique is being inspired to take boxing more seriously and rise to the top by his old friend Junior Witter.
Siddique is unbeaten in 19 fights but admits he has only just started to take boxing seriously, despite winning British Masters and Midlands Area Titles up at welterweight.
The Bradford lightweight faces Tom Glover on the same Hennessy Sports bill as Witter, who defends his WBC Light-Welterweight title against mandatory challenger Vivian Harris (USA/Guyana) at the Dome at Doncaster Lakeside on Friday.
Siddique has seen Witter rise to the top of his division after dominating the British and European scene. Now Sid is out to try and do the same.

Norwood-Reyes Set for September 16
Promoter Art Pelullo/Banner Promotions will present a sensational fight card on Sunday, September 16, 2007, in the Pend O’reille Pavillion at Northern Quest Casino, located at North 100 Hayford Road in Airway Heights, Washington.
In the 10-round jr. lightweight main event, former two-time WBA featherweight world champion Fred “Lil’ Hagler” Norwood, 41-1-1 with 22 knockouts, of St. Louis, Missouri, will fight Shamir Reyes, 18-5-2 with 7 knockouts, of Brooklyn, New York.
Norwood, now 37 years old, returned to the ring in June, 2006, after almost six years off and has won four straight fights since then. Nicknamed “Lil’ Hagler” for his lefthanded “seek and destroy” style reminiscent of former middleweight world champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Fred is looking to regain the form that he had when he fought the best in the division in his world championship days. From May, 1999, to September, 2000, he fought five current, former, or future world champions in a row, all in featherweight world title defenses, going 4-1 in those fights – Antonio Cermeno (W12), Juan Manuel Marquez (W12), Takashi Koshimoto (KO9), Julio Pablo Chacon (W12), and Derrick Gainer (TKOby11).
26 year-old Reyes is a nine-year professional veteran and tough lefthander, as well, and is ready for the biggest challenge of his pro career.

Gunn Discusses Tarver Rumors
Former IBA Cruiserweight champion and WBO title challenger Bobby Gunn 18-3 {15 KO’s} is excited upon hearing the speculation regarding a fight with former undisputed Light Heavyweight champion Antonio “The Magic Man” Tarver. Two different websites have reported the potential clash. Gunn hopes these rumors can get him a date with a man he calls a great champion.
“I have made calls to Tarver’s promoter and his camp”, said the hard hitting Canadian. “I will fight Tarver anytime, any place, and at any weight. This is not a movie, I am the real life Rocky Balboa and this will be a real fight. I am not obligated or contract to any promoters and I am self managed. I have a great team of attorneys that look out for me so this will not be complicated to get done, if you want an opponent who is colorful and has a world wide fan appeal, you should look no further then me”!

Torres Stops Holt, Keeps Title
WBO Junior Welterweight Champion Ricardo Torres successfully defended his title earlier tonight when he stopped challenger Kendall Holt in the 11th round.
Torres completely controlled the fight from the start and never let up. The final round was the beginning of the end for Holt. Torres knocked his opponent down with a left hook and when Holt got back up to his feet, a final flurry forced referee Yino Rodriguez to stop the fight.
Surprisingly, Torres actually thought that he was losing the fight going into the final rounds, the reason why he turned up the heat so late in the bout:
“I was aware that I was down by two or three points, so I gambled in the 10th and 11th rounds. I exposed myself but landed the punches that put Holt in bad shape. He was a tough opposition, and his strength and stamina really affected me,” Torres said.

Abraham Nearly Breaks Rope Jumping World Record
IBF middleweight champion King Arthur Abraham almost wrote his name down the history books on Saturday night when he attempted to break the speed rope skipping world record. Featuring in front of a live national TV audience in the “Guinness World Records” show, Abraham managed 237 speed skips within 60 seconds - just four shy of the old mark of 241. “I would have loved to set a new record,” the 27-year-old said afterwards. “It would have been an honour to find my name in the Guinness Book of Records. I got quite close.”
With Ulli Wegner as head coach, Abraham is no stranger to rope skipping at all. “I´ve been doing it a lot in practice and also during the preparation for the fight against Khoren Gevor. I knew it was hard to set a new record, but I really wanted to give it a shot.”
After Abraham tried his luck, 23-year-old fitness coach Olga Berberich set a new record of 251 skips in one minute. “It was a lot of fun and very interesting,” added Abraham, who had retained his IBF belt with an 11th-round KO victory over Gevor a fortnight ago.
