A November Return for Tua? Not So Fast…
I reported last month that former heavyweight champion David Tua was set for a possible November return according to his promoter, Cedric Kushner. Well it turns out that Mr. Kushner is fibbing about this whole thing just a little bit…
I can’t believe that I missed it but Kushner actually announced that Tua would be fighting IBF Cruiserweight Champion Kelvin Davis on November 3rd. However Davis’ manager Kelly Davis tells us that the fight is simply not going to happen:
“That’s his (Kushner’s) fault (for the announcement). He (Kushner) wanted to sign Kelvin to a long-term, four-year promotional deal. How much do you think a fight with David Tua is worth? He offered us $9,000. I said, ‘You must be missing a zero somewhere.’”
Davis will actually be fighting in London this weekend against an opponent that has not yet been named as well as on November 17th. Looks like Tua and Kushner will have to start all over again…
