Bojado vs Castaneda
I thought Francisco “Panchito” Bojado was a real blue chip prospect when he started his pro career. He was a true heavy-handed fighter in the mold of Matthew Hilton and he had some boxing ability. He put me in mind of a young Fernando Vargas. Somewhere along the line his career sputtered. Now he has the Golden Boy team behind him and big things are expected of him, but will he be able to deliver?
Rogelio Castaneda is no slouch and should provide a rugged test for Bojado. Castaneda had a three fight series with Perrysville, Ohio’s Craig Weber. I saw all three fights. Weber was good enough to defeat Angel Manfredy and Frankie Randall. Castaneda won a close decision in their first fight. There second battle was a hard fought draw. In the rubber match it was all one way traffic as Castaneda stopped Weber. What I saw in Castaneda was a rugged, durable fighter who was able to fight on the inside or the outside. He doesn’t do anything extremely well but he is a well rounded boxer who comes to fight.
Mr. Bojado better be ready for a war. In the past his conditioning has been a question. For his sake in this up coming match, I hope this is not an issue. I have a feeling that Castaneda won’t be going anywhere early.
