Holyfield Earns Bloody, One-Sided Win Over Maddalone

Evander Holyfield defeated Vinny Maddalone last night in a very bloody and one-sided bout that will likely earn Holyfield a big-name heavyweight bout in the near future.

Maddalone’s trainer, Al Certo, asked referee Al Certo to stop the fight in the middle of the third round with Holyfield viciously beating on a very bloody Maddalone after stunning him with a hard right hook.

Holyfield went ahead on points early on in the fight, connecting with multiple jabs and combinations in the first round. The two accidentally clashed heads in the opening session as well, opening a gash on Maddalone’s forehead. The referee stopped the bout and Maddalone started going crazy, pleading with the referee that he wanted to continue. It turned out that his protest wouldn’t matter anyway as he was allowed to continue.

Maddalone spent the remainder of the fight trying to dodge shots and throwing wild punches that rarely connected while Holyfield pulled ahead by a good margin until the third round where he ultimately ended it.

So what’s next for The Real Deal? Holyfield’s promoter, Kathy Duva of Main Events, said that Holyfield’s next fight probably won’t be until at least June. Holyfield was quick to say that he was ready to go after some waist bling after the fight but then calmed down and came back to reality…

“I’m ready for a title shot now,” Holyfield said, conceding he’s still probably a couple of matches away from securing one.
