Marvin Hagler: “No Skill in the UFC”
Former undisputed boxing middleweight champion Marvin Hagler recently sat down for an interview with the Ottawa Sun. He was asked about his thoughts on MMA, primarily the UFC, and went on to bash the sport:
“I don’t see any skill in (the UFC) or art ... anybody can do that kind of fighting off the street,” he said.
Hagler also stated that MMA wouldn’t be the sport to put boxing down for good either.
“Boxing will never die. It will come back some day, some year. We’ll find another superstar.”

HAHAHA HAGLER OF ALL PEOPLE…. the least skilled of his time and division by FAR. he had heart and strength, but as far as skill, sorry marvin… all them shots you took to the head have you thinking crazy.
Posted by Craig O on Jun 15, 2007 at 01:31 AMMarvin is half-right skill ive boxed and wrestled and you do have to have skill to do both, wrestling as far as an olympic sport is skillfull and is an art as well as boxing but MMA combinin both he’s right it’s just like a street fight it is not an art some of these guys in MMA are horrible boxers or horrible wrestlers seems to me like everyone wants a crack at it ie johnny morton brock lesnar now tommy morrison in MMA Morton was a good athlete to play WR but what made him think he could handle a sport with no training at it and brock lesnar was a good college wrestler but c’mon he cant box to save his life and morrison is a plain joke he has no wrestling background whatsoever next my neighbor is gonna think he can do MMA boxing is not dying they have been saying that 4-ever, they just have to market it better and hope an american heavyweight that can punch will save the bad heavyweight division bottom line I would rather be a world class boxer or wrestler than be some half-a** guy who thinks he can just get in a street fight

UFC RULESPosted by mcsnizzle on Jul 07, 2007 at 08:47 PMwell i really like ufc but i like boxing better, old time boxing i guess you could say, but thats no reason to knock UFC since these guys are actually willing to take a hit rather dodge it and put a shitty right (almost like a slap)onto the little portuguese guy standing in front of him. boxing today has turned into a circus and its just filled with little featherweights who couldnt knock out a regular sized 8 year old boy
Posted by heavychamp on Aug 02, 2007 at 02:06 PMMCsnizzle and heavychamp are a perfect example of the dumbing down of society….and heavychamp for u to say a silly comment like a small portuguese guy is a perfect example of white america trying to hold onto a grip of any sport that’s why UFC has been successfull it’s a perfect example of white peolpe trying to hold on to anything a UFC so called fighter is a chump he has no skills and is a steroid freak like Sherk who tested positive for steroids they have no athletic ability an belong in the WWF with all the other steroid freaks….BOXING IS KING AND ALWAYS WILL BE take your hillbillie self back to kentucky with ur 2 teeth and watch the WWF with ur wife I mean sister
Posted by cpd3577 on Aug 03, 2007 at 05:46 AMwhen is the last time you saw a huge boxing event thats changed the way we look at boxing in the past 30 years? theres no way the boxing we had 50 years ago will ever be back and thats a promise. for gods sakes ive seen hockey fights with more cleanly landed punches than a 15 round boxing match.
Posted by heavychamp on Aug 03, 2007 at 03:53 PMOh there was a fight back in May someone named Delahoya vs Mayweather maybe you heard of them? it only did a record 2.2 million PPV hmmmmm boxing dead I doubt it….And the silly mainstream media which knows nothing about boxing stating after this fight what’s next for boxing there’s nothing on tap….they also said that when Odlh vs trinidad, tyson vs lewis fought they thought nothing was next and when Hatton vs Mayweather comes up in dec it again will do a million buys and then cotto will face odlh and that would have a chance to break the 2.2 million ppv buys for sure…and you statement about 15 rnds just for your knowldege they haven’t fought 15 rnds in years so get a clue you probably haven’t even watched a fight in years so you have no idea what your talking about….PACQUIAO,COTTO,PAVLIK OR HATTON you try and tell me those aren’t action fighters who don’t punch…..don’t comment on something you know nothing about…..this is called the ko corner for a reason it’s a boxing page not a mma page if you wanna talk ufc go to a jerry springer show with all the other low rent toothless dumbies and talk ufc with them but don’t do it here.
Posted by cpd3577 on Aug 03, 2007 at 08:20 PMWhites don’t need UFC to feel like they have something. All the HW champs are white and the two best MMA fighters in the world are white - Fedor and Shogun.
Posted by TTBoy on Aug 15, 2007 at 02:07 PMUFC Rules! Boxing is dead and we all know it, UFC and IFL now rule the fight game, atleast we get to see a clean knockout eh? not some little portugeusse guy get cliped and fall to his knees and give up because he doesnt want his face to get cut. boo-hoo. hahahahaha
Posted by heavychamp on Aug 16, 2007 at 11:06 AMUFC is junk for retarded clowns like yourself who don’t understand the complex strategy of boxing. It’s called the sweet science for a reason. UFC is a fad look at a UFC events its all white people age18-30 in a few years those people will get older and wont care about some dude with a shaved head and tattoos all over his body. They have been saying boxing is dead forever.UFC could only dream of 2.2 million PPV buys on one event and when Cotto fights Mosley it will easily do 1 million along with Hatton vs Mayweather. UFC has nothing only people that cant hack the athletic skill of boxing and half a brain to be even entertained by UFC it ain’t nothing but a street fight. Find me in about 5 years ask me, wow what happened to the ufc
