Mesi’s Comeback Includes Bellamy, Possibly Tyson

Thomas Gerbasi of MaxBoxing.com by way of ESPN has written a piece on Joe Mesi, a former heavyweight who has been out of the ring for the last two years battling a medical suspension that was finally lifted this past December. Mesi’s respite was the result of injuries suffered in a win over Vassiliy Jirov in March 2004. The damage included a subdural hematoma: uncontrolled bleeding from the brain. Mesi is currently scheduled to fight Ron Bellamy in Puerto Rico this Saturday.

In even bigger news involving Mesi, Thomas Hauser of SecondsOut.com is reporting that Mesi’s camp is in negotiations with Mike Tyson’s peeps concerning a possible bout at Madison Square Garden in December. Shelly Finkel, Tyson’s adviser, has said that she is 80% sure that the fight will happen.
