Moorer Stops Couser in First; McCall Drops Diaz

Both of the big-time heavyweights on Saturday night’s Night of the Heavyweights card were victorious in dominant fashion…

Former heavyweight champion Michael Moorer stopped Mike Tyson look-a-like Cliff Couser in the first round of their fight. Couser actually took to the offensive early on in the fight, pushing Moorer against the ropes with combinations of lefts and rights. Couser landed a hard body shot while Moorer was backing into the ropes but Moorer was able to counter with a right hook that sent Couser to the canvas.

Couser was visibly knocked out and the referee didn’t even bother to administer a 10 count, declaring Moorer the winner.

After the fight, Moorer was proud of his training efforts coming into the bout:

“This is the reward of working hard to prepare for the fight,” Moorer said.

In the co-main event, former heavyweight champion Oliver McCall stopped Yamplier Diaz in the 7th round. McCall dropped Diaz with a left hook, short right combination and Diaz was unable to beat the referee’s count, ultimately ending the fight.
